Super Mario Odyssey: The 10 Best Songs In The Game | ScreenRant

In Super Mario Odyssey, Mario embarks on his biggest adventure ever. The journey comes with an immense degree of difficulty, but thankfully for him, he receives a helping hand from Cappy. From there, the two aim to obtain as many power moons as possible to help rescue Princess Peach from his greatest enemy, Bowser. This requires Mario to go through an abundance of different kingdoms, which results in some splendid gameplay.

There is no question that the game offers a lot of entertainment with Mario searching for moons and battling challenging foes. Yet, an aspect of this game that players can not overlook is its marvelous soundtrack. It follows the pattern of Mario games having great songs. It is hard to find a single one that is bad, sure, but there are some that are truly among the elite on it. This allows certain kingdoms of the game to become even more enjoyable to play.

10 Lake Lamode 1 (Lake Kingdom)

For some reason, Mario games always seem to make beautiful songs when it comes to their water levels. With Lake Lamode 1, Super Mario Odyssey absolutely follows that trend, as it is one of the sweetest sounding tunes in the game.

The Lake Kingdom is not necessarily the most memorable of kingdoms, but this song certainly is. The arrangement meshes perfectly with Mario swimming underwater, as it is unlike any other feeling in the game.

9 Steam Gardens (Wooded Kingdom)

Steam Gardens is different than most songs from Mario games, as it incorporates the slide guitar. It is also quite fast with its tempo, which does work with all the events that transpire while it is playing.

The song plays once Mario reaches the Iron Road in the Wooded Kingdom. It is one of the hardest parts of this level, as Mario has to handle to handle a plethora of goombas, while also many obstacles along the way.

8 Tostarena: Town (Sand Kingdom)

The Sand Kingdom is a fan favorite. It makes sense, as it has marvelous scenery to go along with entertaining residents. It also does not hurt that Mario has the ability to take over lion statues.

While exploring the beginning portions of the kingdom, the "Tostarena: Town" song plays. It pays homage to Mariachi bands, while simultaneously just being a wonderful song in the game.

7 New Donk City: Daytime (Metro Kingdom)

The "New Donk City: Daytime" track perfectly epitomizes the sounds of New York City. Whilst exploring this kingdom, it feels as though Mario is actually a New York resident. It also does not hurt that the citizens there are all dressed up in suits for work.

The jazz elements to the song definitely allow it to be quite groovy, too. It is the type of song that the player wouldn't mind tapping their foot to while playing, so it makes sense that it is among the best.

6 Shiveria Medley (Snow Kingdom)

The Snow Kingdom is basically a Christmas paradise, minus the decorations. The "Shiveria Medley" accurately depicts this theme, as it is quite upbeat, while also having bells playing in the background.

It really does have a wintery feel with its instrumentation and overall sound. As for the events that take place in the kingdom itself, it works particularly well when Mario joins in on the kingdom's race.

5 Peach's Castle (Mushroom Kingdom)

One of the best surprises in Super Mario Odyssey is the incorporation of the Mushroom Kingdom. It pays complete homage to Super Mario 64, as it has the exact castle and even power stars from the original game.

When walking inside of Princess Peach's castle, it plays the ever so nostalgic theme from the original game. This alone helps its case as being one of the best songs in the game, but it also has a far crisper sound to it, too.

4 Bowser's Castle 2 (Bowser's Kingdom)

Bowser's Kingdom is one of the best levels in the game, as it is absolutely massive and has a ton of obstacles for Mario to overcome. Also, from an aesthetic point of view, it portrays Japanese castles quite nicely.

"Bowser's Castle 2" is definitely the best song in this level, too. It perfectly displays just how much combat Mario is in for, while also paying homage to Japanese music, too. It is by far one of the most epic tracks in the game.

3 Fossil Falls (Cascade Kingdom)

"Fossil Falls" has a very strong chance of becoming the most nostalgic song in the game. It is the one that players hear first, whilst playing in the Cascade Kingdom. It starts off the game with quite a bang, too.

It shows Mario has a lot in store with his new journey. The beautiful sound of this song also is spectacular mixed the prehistoric scenery around Mario, too. Also, the changes in volume of its sound and pace is hard not to praise.

2 Tostarena: Ruins (Sand Kingdom)

As Mario explores the Sand Kingdom more, a change in the level's soundtrack occurs. This is due to the fact that the events that are occurring in front of Mario take a drastic turn, as there are far more foes to attend to.

It takes on a desert sound by using flutes, slide guitars, and much more. It marks a bit of a change in the culture it is portraying in the level as well. Overall, it easily can be labeled as one of the most innovative tracks in the game.

1 Jump Up, Super Star! (Metro Kingdom)

"Jump Up, Super Star!" is unlike any other song in the game, as it is actually sung by Pauline and has lyrics. In fact, this song is so beautifully done that it would be the one that was used in this game's original trailer.

It possesses the jazz component that this level is known for and offers everything that somebody would expect from a song of its genre, including tempo changes and lots of instrumentation. It is quite the finger snapper.
