7th Heaven: Every Main Character, Ranked By Likability
"Where can you go when the world don't treat you right? The answer is home. That's the one place that you'll find 7th Heaven." With a soothing theme song like that, 7th Heaven will always be a favorite family drama. The series lasted for eleven seasons and dramatized the life of a pastor's family.
Countless house guests, boyfriends, girlfriends, and acquaintances poured through the Camden home in all those years. The main characters are the heart of the show, though. Let's rank them by likability, remembering that they're all lovable at the end of the day.
13 Simon
Viewers might be inclined to feel sorry for Simon Camden, but there is much in his character to criticize. The obvious issue is that he accidentally kills someone, but there are other less significant problems. Simon becomes a cad in female company and shirks any duty to his family for a long while. The middle Camden boy is certainly not likable for too long.
12 Robbie
Robbie Palmer is one of Mary's boyfriends, the longest-running one, to be exact. Well, he might not date Mary forever, but he sure likes to hang around. Robbie is often up to no good and really can't be trusted. Even when he makes improvements in his broken life, he's still one of the sketchiest people on the family drama.
11 Mary
She's a teen dream in the first couple of seasons of 7th Heaven, but Mary Camden is a dangerous girl. She bounces back from her wayward years, but there is a good stretch of time where Mary is negligent, unmotivated, and totally selfish.
It starts when she vandalizes her high school gym with her basketball team in the fourth season, and it all goes downhill from there. The athlete needs an intervention, and her bad girl phase lasts too long to make her very likable.
10 Martin
Martin Brewer is one of many non-Camdens to live in the Camden house in the later years of 7th Heaven. The young man's father is in the military, and he needs extra guidance. Cue Reverend Camden. Martin is friends with Simon, which is how he meets and impregnates Sandy Jameson. Martin isn't so supportive of the pregnancy at first, but he comes around. He might be handsome, but he is annoying and inconsiderate to the mother of his child.
9 Sam & David
It might seem unfair to group Sam and David Camden together, but there is little to differentiate the Camden twins. They also aren't around until a few seasons into the series, so there isn't as much history with them. These youngest Camdens are super cute, and it's fun that their birthday is on Valentines' Day (even though other characters are more concerned with their hot dates some years). Sam and David are likable enough; the audience just doesn't know them quite as well as everyone else.
8 Reverend Camden
Reverend Eric Camden is a strange man, but a compassionate one. He is continually stretched too thin, but so is everyone else in that house. Eric has to juggle his family with his job as the minister of Glenoak Community Church. He takes the work painfully seriously and is pretty much on call for anything. The man has heart problems in the later years, clearly linked to his stressful life. Eric isn't unlikeable. He just needs to turn his beeper off more often and relax.
7 Lucy
Some love Lucy Camden, but the character can be difficult to like at different points in her journey. She is an extremely relatable middle schooler, not unlike a Lizzie McGuire. Lucy does pretty well in high school, too, although she gets herself in trouble with drama here and there. In college and adulthood, Lucy can be particularly bossy and struggles to listen to other points of view.
6 Sandy
Sandy Jameson is basically Lucy Camden 2.0. The young woman becomes pregnant by Simon's friend, Martin. She handles motherhood, school, and relationship issues pretty well.
It's very sweet when she decides to dedicate herself to other young women's needs by working to become a minister. Sandy is generally a kind person with a desire to constantly better herself and help others.
5 Ruthie
Ruthie Camden gets pretty terrible in her teen years, but she is a sweet and adorable little kid for about half of the show, which is why she has a mid-range rating. Before teen Ruthie goes off to Scotland and doesn't care about her dad's heart problems, she is a young girl with a big heart and a refreshing curiosity about life. No one could forget her precious curls and shenanigans with her brother, Simon.
4 Kevin
Kevin Kinkirk and Lucy Camden Kinkirk have a pretty cute love story, but their romance is much more than a flirtation. Kevin and Lucy are soulmates, and he is the measured organization to her sporadic chaos. He puts up with Camden family gracefully, and he strives to make the most ethical decisions in his work as a police officer.
3 Wilson
Wilson West added a lot to 7th Heaven during his time on the drama. In every episode, he works so hard to care for his only son, Billy. When he dates Mary Camden, Wilson is candid about his teenage fatherhood and does not sugarcoat his life. He wants what is best for Mary and is a voice of reason to her, so it's quite sad that they don't work out in the end.
2 Matt
Matt Camden goes through a number of phases, and he falls into teen troubles to a mild degree. He also has a secret marriage for a while. But overall, Matt is the ultimate big brother. He fiercely protects his siblings and does as much as he can to help his parents keep track of everyone. Matt is destined for the medical field and shows his compassion for others more often than not. Best Camden sibling, easily.
1 Annie
Annie Camden runs a tight ship. The Camden matriarch has five, then seven, children to take care of. Granted, not all of those children stay in the home forever, but she takes care of them long after they move out (and back in, and out again). 7th Heaven is a really dramatic show, but Annie pulls things back down to Earth and reminds viewers that she is still a mom with warm mom hugs, words of wisdom, and a firm disciplinary sensibility. In sum, Annie is the anchor of the series, and she's extremely likable.
